Key Chorale History
Key Chorale was founded in 1985 by Ann Stephenson-Moe, Organist and Choirmaster at Church of the Redeemer, and Don B. Ryno, Minister of Music, St. Boniface Church and is dedicated to bringing alive in sound some of the great choral masterpieces, especially those which, by duration or difficulty, are beyond the performance capabilities of amateur choral ensembles. The intent is to perform these compositions as the composer conceived them, with the instruments that the composer intended. A 70-voice Key Chorale made its debut on Sunday, March 3, 1985 with a performance of Handel's rarely heard Israel in Egypt celebrating the composer's 300th birthday.
Today the Key Chorale is an ensemble of approximately 95 voices, with a professional core of singers.
