Daniel Moe

Daniel Moe, the artistic Director and Conductor of Key Chorale, was recently hailed by New Yorker music critic, Andrew Porter, as the "Dean of Choral Conductors."  He acquired this reputation during his twenty years (1972-1992) conducting the internationally renowned Oberlin College Choir.

At Oberlin Dr. Moe enhanced the choral tradition established by Olaf Christiansen and Robert Fountain.  Prior to his retirement from Overlin in 1992, he served as Permanent Guest Conductor of Key Chorale with the assistance of Ann Stephenson-Moe.

In 1992, after moving to Sarasota, he became the Chorale's Artistic Director and Conductor.  Dr. Moe holds a B.A. Degree from Concordia College, an M.A. from the University of Washington, and a Ph.D. from the University of Iowa.  He also received an honorary doctorate from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota.  He received many awardds including the 1975 Canticum Novum from Wittenberg University, an Honorary Citation from the Bruckner Society of America, the McGowen Memorial Award, and a Danforth Foundation Fellowship.  Dr. Moe pursued additional studies at the Kirchenmusikschule of Hanover, Germany and the Aspen School of Music in Colorado.
